Zac Efron’s got a mum. Well, that not exactly news. Of course he’s got a mum. However he’s now got a new movie mum in the form of Kim Basginer, who’ll be playing his mother in the upcoming The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud.
Although the movie reunites Efron with the director of 17 Again, Burr Steers, Charlie St. Cloud sounds far less cheery and much more weepy. Zac will play the title role of Charlie, a young man who’s so stricken by grief after being partially resposible for the death of his brother that he finds himself unable to move forward.
He ends up getting a job as a caretaker in the cemetery his brother is buried in, which allows him to feel a special connection to his brother (his sibling even appears to him on ghostly form), but it’s a bond that tested when Charlie falls in love.
Sounds like we’d better get out handkies ready as Zac and Kim try to wrestle those tears from our eyes. The Death And Life Of Charlie St. Cloud, based on the novel by Ben Sherwood, should be in cinemas sometime next year.
