We wouldn’t be shocked if the filmmakers shorten the title before it appears in cinemas, but Napoleon Dynamite and Blades Of Glory star Jon Heder has signed up to appear in an adaptation of the comic sci-fi novel, Buddy Holly Is Alive and Well on Ganymede.
Heder is due to play Olilver Vale, a geek leading an uneventful life, which gets turned upside down when Buddy Holly appears on every TV channel, broadcasting a non-stop solo concert from one of Jupiter’s moons. Between songs he declare that Oliver is the only person who understands why this is happening (Vale was apparently conceived at the moment Holly died). Of course Oliver doesn’t have a clue what’s going on, but the announcement results in him being pursued by a mob of disguised aliens.
Heder will film the movie during breaks from his upcoming sitcom, ‘Woke Up Dead’, while the film will be directed and written by indie filmmaker Robert Rugan.
If you’d like to know more about the book, you can read the first four chapters via http://www.bradleydenton.net/. They’re well worth a look as it’s very funny and could turn into a wonderfully quirky sci-fi flick.
