We know this will be tough news to hear, but steel yourself. Okay, here we go – there are unlikely to be any more Harold & Kumar movie. We know that, like us, most of your hopes for the future rested on the idea that a third movie in the series would be made, but as Kal Penn has now left acting behind to go and work for Barack Obama, that ain’t gonna happen.
However we can take some small solace from the fact that the creators of the movies, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, are still in work and planning a new film.
The Hollywood Reporter is saying that the duo are now planning to direct Josh Friedlander’s original script, One Night Stan, for Lionsgate. The film is about a man, Stan, who’s planning to get married but discovers that his finacee, Julie, has had a lot more sexual partners than he has. In order to balance things out, she gives him permission to spend one night sleeping with as many people as he can, but the plans for this sex buffet don’t quite work out in the way that he’d hoped. Sounds like a very understanding fiancee to us, but then this type of film was never exactly big on fully fleshed out female characters. They just need to get out of the way so the men can has plenty of OTT, R-rated fun.
Hurzitz and Schlossberg are also planning to write and direct Till Beth Do Us Part and their script, Grandma vs. Grandma is set up at Paramount. There’s no news yet on a cast for One Night Stan, or any idea when it might go into production.
