They’re certainly going full steam ahead on Mission: Impossible IV. It was recently announced that Tom Cruise and JJ Abrams were re-teaming for the fourth Ethan Hunt adventure, although with Abrams probably only producing this instalment rather than directing it. They’ve now hired writers in the form of Josh Appelbaum and Andrew Nemec to help shape the screenplay for the movie.
Although the duo haven’t previously have a feature screenplay make it to the big screen, JJ Abrams obviously trusts them as a safe pair of hand after working with them throughout the run of TV’s Alias. They’ve also worked on series such as October Road and the US version of Life On Mars, as well as writing the screenplay for the upcoming Dirty Dozen screen remake.
“I’ve been looking forward to working with Josh and Andre again for years,” Abrams said. “Their sense of balance between character and action is wonderful, which I know is hugely important to Tom as well. We’re off to an exciting start, so, as usual, fingers crossed.”
They’re aiming for a 2011 release on Mission: Impossible IV, which is pretty speedy if they’re only just starting work on the screenplay.
