Following Forgetting Sarah Marshall and his infamous showing of his bits, it’s surprising that Jason Segel hasn’t tried to squeeze in as many movies as he can. Admittedly his work on How I Met Your Mother means he doesn’t have a huge amount of time, but so far he’s only followed up Sarah Marshall with a supporting role in I Love You, Man, while most of his upcoming projects are animated (Despicable Me, Flanimals), with only Gulliver’s Travels featuring him in a live action role.
Well now he can add The Adventurer’s Handbook to his roster. He’ll join Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman in the film, about four childhood friends who are bored with the monotony of their lives and embark on a global adventure inspired by the stories of explorers detailed in Mick Conefrey’s book ‘The Adventurer’s Handbook: Life Lessons From History’s Great Explorers’.
Hill, Matt Spicer and Max Winkler (son of the Fonz himself) wrote the movie, in which Segel will play a talented musician who never got his act together, ending up as a backup piano player and an alcoholic. Hill will be an engineer, isolated from his family, while Schwartzman is a spoiled and cowardly three-time Grammy winner.
Hang on a minute. Wasn’t Segel’s character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall a talented musician who never got his act together? Does that mean he’s going to get his cock out again as well? In fact it doesn’t sound like a stretch for any of the actors, with Hill keeping to his geeky loser persona and Schwartzman once more being a douche. However if they can get the laughs in, this could certainly be one to watch as they’ve all extremely talented.
