I don’t think this is a movie for me, as I’ve found Paul Haggis’ movies annoying (don’t get me started on Crash or I may have to start killing people) and Russell Crowe has always left me completely cold. However if you do like either of them, and a hell of a lot of people do, they’re teaming up on the new movie, The Next Three Days, a remake of the 2008 French movie, Pour Elle.
The original film sees a high school teacher (who would be played by Crowe in the remake) devising a daring plan to rescue his wrongfully imprisoned wife from prison after she’s sent away for murder. Haggis will write and direct the remake, which is expected to begin principal photography in August.
The French movie is very good and I’m sure the Crowe/Haggis combination could be a potent combination for some people, but it’ll take a lot to convince me this is a good idea.
