It has to be said that the omens are not boding well for The Wolf Man. A month or so ago rumours were circulating that the studio had asked for extensive reshoots, and now it’s been announced that the film is moving from a November 6th release to February 10th, 2010.
February is traditionally seen as a dumping ground for films that the studios don’t have a huge amount of confidence in, although the official explanation is that the extensive special effects work needed for the movie have made a November release impossible. However, while some movies do well in February, and the film will be coming out on the already crowded President’s Day holiday weekend, it’s certainly not as presitigous a release slot as Novemeber and suggests there may be a few more problems with the movie than more special effects work needing to be done.
We’ll be able to get our first hint of what the film will be like on August 21st, when the first trailer hits, featuring Benicio Del Toro as the man who turns into a wolf, alongside Emily Blunt, Anthony Hopkins and Hugo Weaving,
