There’s been a lot of rumours about a follow up to the poker drama Rounders over the years. While the Matt Damon and Edward Norton flick wasn’t a big hit on its first release, the movie’s reputation has grown over the years and it’s definitely a great film that’s be worth revisiting with a sequel. It’s also true that with the exponential growth of online poker, the gambling sport has never been as popular.
According to the website PokerListings, Rounders 2 may be closer than many expected. They scored an interview with one of the original movie’s writer, David Levien, who said, “We’ve been concentrating on Rounders 2 lately; Ideas are percolating. It’s great to know that all of the original players want to come back and do another one.”
And according to the same website, they certainly would come back, as they quote Matt Damon as saying, “Everybody would probably come back. The actors all had a really good time working together… The only reason to do a movie like that would be if we had a great idea. If the two writers suddenly said eureka! We have a great idea. Then everyone involved would be interested in exploring it.”
Levien and his writing partner, Brian Koppleman, are also busy working on another gambling script, set in the world of online casino, which Leonardo DiCaprio is attached to star it. CLICK HERE to read more about it.
