It’s been getting great buzz in Hollywood and is one of the hottest spec scripts around at the moment, and now Aaron Guzikowski’s Prisoners has found a home at Alcon Entertainment. The film looks at a small-town man whose daughter is kidnapped and he responds in a vigilante fashion by imprisoning a neighbour he suspects committed the crime.
However while Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg were previously attached to star and Bryan Singer was a possible director, The Hollywood Reporter is now saying that none of these people will be involved. It look probable that all three may have left due to scheduling and budget considerations, with the movie on a fast track for an October 2010 release and the budget around $30-$40 million, meaning it’d be tough to either pay for these people or shoot around their already full diaries.
The makers are now searching for a new cast and director, although they’re hoping all that will be in place in the next couple of months.
