According to the Daily Mail, John Travolta may be thinking of leaving Scientology. They report that since the death of his son Jett, Travolta has been living as a virtual recluse and has made private threats to leave the controversial religion as his faith has been ‘deeply shaken’.
He is apparently upset that Scientology couldn’t do more to help his son, and indeed many have suggested that Jett may have had autism, a condition Scientology does not recognise, however the official word is that he had Kawasaki Syndrome and died after a particularly severe fit.
The Mail also says that, “Travolta is said to be upset that senior members of the sect have instructed him to undergo intensive sessions with one of Scientology’s ‘ethics officers’, trained to question the actor and other grieving family members to establish whether their ‘negative influences’ might have contributed to the tragedy.”
What has happened to Travolta is undoubtedly tragic and it’s little wonder that his faith has been shaken, no matter what his religion is, however if he does decide to leave Scientology, it would be a big blow to the organisation, which has somewhat relied on celebrities proponents to gain credibility.
