In an interview with ShockTilYouDrop, Paul W.S. Anderson has revealed that the new Resident Evil movie, which starts filming later this year, will be made in 3D. Milla Jovovich will be returning to the role of Alice in Resident Evil: Afterlife, which is currently scheduled to open in cinemas on September 17th, 2010.
Anderson told ShockTilYouDrop, “I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films… I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I’m really excited we’re doing it [in 3-D] and we’re using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar… I don’t regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise.”
It could well be exactly what the franchise needs, as while Resident Evil: Extinction was okay, the whole thing needs a good kicking if it’s going to survive a fourth outing. Anderson will be returning to the director’s chair, having only written and produced parts 2 and 3, and we eagerly anticipate some 3D Umbrella madness..
