Take a look at the first official US poster for Shutter Island below and tell me what movie you think you’re going to get? Although it’s a fairly neat image, it looks like it’s for a rather generic, cheapy horror flick, where you’d expect the titular island to be ruled by ghoulies and ghosties that are out to get Leo DiCaprio. However it’s not, it a dramatic thriller based on Dennis Lehane’s book, about a man investigating the dissapearance of a murderess who’s believed to be hiding on the remote Shutter Island.
Admittedly this Martin Scorsese flick is slightly more complex than that, but if you’ve ever read the book, it isn’t something that fits this poster. However as always in Hollywood, when you have a movie that’s difficult to market, you fall back on tried and tested methods, and here they seem to be going for interesting people by making it look like a horror flick.
But despite the slightly underwhelming poster, we’re still actually quite excited to see the film, which will be in UK cinemas on October 9th.
