Although fantasy films can be rather hit and miss affairs, it has to be said the Your Highness is becoming increasingly intriguing. It’s a comedy from Ben Best and Danny McBride, and centers on an arrogant, lazy prince (McBride) who must complete a quest in order to save his father’s kingdom. Joining him on the quest is his more heroic brother, played by James Franco. Natalie Portman will be a warrior princess who’s McBride’s love interest and it’s now been announced that Zooey Dechanel (The Happening, 500 Days Of Summer) is joining the cast as Belladonna, Franco’s virginal bride.
Your Highness could be rubbish, as fantasy comedies don’t have a great track record, but the cast is intriguing and McBride is on a bit of a hot streak at the moment after Superbad, Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, Observe & Report and Land Of The Lost. Your Highness reteams McBride and Franco with Pineapple Express director David Gordon Green, who certainly seems to be carving a career for himself that’s a million miles from the indie hits that first made his name, such as George Washington, All The Real Girls and Undertow.
The movie is due out in 2011.
