More and more cool looking stuff is appearing for the Peter Jackson produced sci-fi film District 9, which is due out on September 4th. It’s worth taking a look at both the new poster and trailer, but now the 2005 short film that inspired the upcoming movie has turned up online. The six-minute movie is a documentary style look at the tensions between humans and aliens, after they turn up on Earth and seek asylum in Johannesburg. But these are not your normal aliens, they’re more like real asylum seekers, trying to eke out an existence amidst social unrest. It’s a great little short, which looks good despite being made on a tiny budget (director Neill Blomkamp started out working in special effects). Click below to see it.
