If only all films could star Dick Van Dyke the world woulld be a better place, but they don’t and that’s a fact that we’ll just have to live with. However we can take solace from the fact that he’s now signed up to appear in Furry Vengeance, alongside Brendan Fraser. Also joining the cast is Brooke Shields who, fresh from her emotional appearance at the Michael Jackson memorial, will be making a rare major movie appearance in the film as Brendan Fraser’s wife.
The basic plot sees Fraser playing an ambitious real estate developer who has to face off against a band of angry animals (the Hollywood Reporter says they’ll be raccoons) that inhabit the local wilderness.
It’s not exactly an original premise, but it is one that could work and make for decent family fare. The film will be directed by Roger Kumble (Cruel Intentions, College Road Trip), although as yet there’s no news on what role Van Dyke will play. The movie should be out in the UK next May.
