Although talks are still at an early stage, Cameron Diaz is now circling the upcoming Green Hornet movie, with an eye to playing the leading lady opposite Seth Rogen. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Diaz is thinking about a role in the movie, which is due to be directed by Michael Gondry (Be Kind Rewind, Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind) from a script by Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg.
She’ll have to decide fairly soon as shooting is due to begin shortly on the comedy adaptation of the 1940s films and the 1960s TV series, with the latter introducing Bruce Lee to audiences as sidekick Kato (to be played by Stephen Chow in the new movie). The movie is due in cinemas next July, so hopefully she’ll decide pretty quickly.
It’d probably be a good move for Diaz, whose star has been slightly on the wane following a series of lacklustre romantic comedies. In fact she hasn’t made a proper blockbuster type movie since Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle in 2003 (discounting the Shrek movies), and Green Hornet would give her a chance to show off her impressive comedy skills.
