He may not want to play Doctor Who anymore, but following his stage turn in Hamlet, thakfully it doesn’t look like David Tennant will just be appearing in highbrow entertainment from now on. He’s signed on to play the villain in St. Trinians II: The Legend Of Fritton’s Gold, where he’ll play Pomfrey, the leader of a women-hating secret society who goes up against the rebellious schoolgirls while they all search for the titular treasure.
Tennant will be playing opposite most of the original cast, including Rupert Everett (once again in drag as headmistess, Miss Fritton), Colin Firth, Gemma Arterton, Talulah Riley, Jodie Whittaker, Juno Temple, Tamsin Egerton, Celia Imrie, Fenella Wollgar and Girl’s Aloud star Sarah Harding. As with the first film, it’ll be directed by Oliver Parker and Barnaby Thompson.
The movie starts shooting today and it should be in cinemas just before Christmas.
