It seems that Dimension Films is putting together a remake of the 1981 horror classic, An American Werewolf In London. According to Bloody Disgusting, director John Landis has sold the remake rights to the movie to the Weinstein Brothers’ genre offshoot, which would suggest Dimension is indeed hoping to make a new version.
It wouldn’t be the first remake for Dimension, who are also the company behind Rob Zombie’s take on Halloween and who are busy trying to get new version of Hellraiser and Short Circuit off the ground, while Piranha 3-D is already in production.
It seems the company is currently looking for remakes that it could turn into new franchises, with Halloween II already on its way to cinemas and its other properties seemiungly ripe for sequels. Let’s just pray that if it ever does get to that point, they don’t make a movie as hideous as An American Werewolf In Paris.
