Sometime you wonder why they bothered. In order to promote Tyler Perry’s upcoming new film, I Can Do Bad All By Myself, the makers have come up with one of the most pointless and a little bit scary online promos ever, involving a motion poster where a flower opens up to reveal a woman’s face trapped inside (see it at the bottom of this article).
Quite why this would make you want to go watch the movie is anyone’s guess, especially as the poster appears to have little to do with the film, which is about Madea (played by Tyler Perry in a dress) desciding to sort out the lives of two young thieves by reuniting them with their only surviving relative – an aunt who’s a boozy nightclub singer. In case you don’t know who Perry is, he’s a playwright turned filmmaker whose faith-based movies are immensely popular with African American audiences. However the movies don’t tend to get released at all in the UK because no one’s interested in them, whatever their race.
And just to prove that the promoters of the film are either incompetent or taking the piss, the official website of the film is www.icandobadmovie.com. Yep, someone genuinely thought a good way to promote a film was with a site called I Can Do Bad Movie! Although if Perry’s previous efforts are anything to go by, at least it’s accurate.
To be honest we would actually like to see the movie if it was about people getting genetically spliced with flowers, but sadly it isn’t. Take a look below to see the motion poster (if you’re reading the main news feed, click ‘Read More’ to see the poster) and tell me if that’s not one of the most pointless and oddly creepy things that you’ve ever seen.
