It was previously announced that Garry Marshall’s new movie, Valentine’s Day, was going to be an incredibly starry affair, with Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Garner, Jessica Biel, Shirley Maclaine, Bradley Cooper and Ashton Kutcher in the cast. Well it now turns out there’s a few more names to add to the list, with Variety saying Topher Grace, Hector Elizondo and Emma Roberts will also appear in the film.
Emma is, of course, Julia’s niece and the daughter of Eric Roberts. It will mark the first time the relatives have worked together, except for a tiny uncredited role for Emma in America’s Sweethearts.
The movie itself sounds like it wants to be a bit like Love, Actually, and follows a group of intertwining couples and singles in Los Angeles as they break-up and make-up on Valentine’s Day. However, one word of warning is that it’s been written by the people who scripted He’s Just Not That Into You, which turned out to be an ensemble mess. Likewise Garry Marshall has been responsible for hits like Runaway Bride, Pretty Woman, Beaches and The Princess Diaries, but he’s also presided over dross like Georgia Rule and Raising Helen, so it’s tough to tell whether he’ll be able to pull off Valentine’s day, despite his incredible cast. Let’s cross our fingers.
Unsurprisingly, the movie is due out next February.
