If you take a look to the right, you’ll see the just released official box art for the US Blu-ray edition of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, which is due out over there on November 3rd this year. From previously released info we know the set will include only the theatrical versions of the movies, with the Extended Editions not coming out until later (some are saying we might have to wait until 2012 when The Hobbit hits cinemas, although hopefully we’ll get it before then).
In the UK, EIV haven’t confirmed a release date for the Lord Of The Rings on Blu-ray, but they have assured us that they are indeed planning on bringing the films out in high def over here before the end of the year. So watch this space for more news on exactly what we can expect from the releases.
This had better be good, as spectacular high-def transfers for the Lord Of The Rings movies could be a massive boost to the Blu-ray format. It’s just a shame we’ll have to pay twice if we want to see this and later the Extended versions.
