It was almost inevitable, what with every halfway decent flick from the 1980s getting remade recently, but Moviehole is reporting that Warner is in the early stages of putting together a Teen Wolf redo. It really is early days, as there’s no writers attached yet, but it isn’t surprising Warner wants to do something with the film rights to Teen Wolf, which they bought up five or six years ago.
The original saw Michael J. Fox having unusual puberty problems, as the hair that was growing where it didn’t grow before saw him turning into a werewolf, like his father before him. The movie traded off Fox’s youthful charm, but did give rise to a truly hideous sequel in the form of Teen Wolf Too, which saw Jason Bateman getting hims werewolf on. Actually, seeing as Teen Wolf Too was basically the same movie as Teen Wolf, except much worse, technically the original’s already had a remake.
Prepare yourself for a onslaught of casting rumours (Moviehole is already betting on Zac Efron, who seems a safe bet to be approached at least), as everyone under Hollywood is pretty much guaranteed to be linked to the project at some point (and don’t rule out Lady Teen Wolf either).
There’s also no news yet on when the film might get released, if indeed it ever makes it to production.
