Remember Josh Peck from Drake & Josh on Nickelodeon? You know, the tubby teen who taught a whole new generation of kids that fat people were indeed funny and a little bit dim. Well, anyone who’s seen The Wackness will know he isn’t overweight any more, and now he’s about to become an action star.
The now far buffer Josh has joined the cast of the Red Dawn remake alongside ‘Friday Nights Lights’ star Adrianne Palicki and the previously announced Chris Hemsworth. Peck will be taking on the role played by Charlie Sheen in the 1984 original, as one of a group of teens who team up with a Marine (Hemsworth) and plot guerilla warfare against an invading force (we’re presuming it won’t be the Cubans and Russians in the remake though). Palicki will take on the role originally played by Jennifer Grey.
The film should be a good test for Chris Hemsworth, who’ll be following up Red Dawn by playing the title character in Kenneth Branagh’s comic book adaptation, Thor.
The Red Dawn remake is due out towards the end of next year.
