Disney certainly seems to be lining up an impressive list of female talent for their upcoming comedy, You Again. Sigourney Weaver and Kristin Bell will now be joined by Jamie Lee Curtis, Kristin Chenoweth, Odette Yustman and Betty While, with a token male addition in the form of Victor Garber.
It’s an impressive list of ladies, all joining the movie about a woman (Bell) who discovers her brother is planning to marry the person who made her high school years a living hell. She sets out to convince her sibling his fiancee isn’t the nice girl she appears to be.
Curtis and Garber have signed on to play Bell’s parents, White will be her grandmother, Chenoweth will be the wedding co-ordinator and Yustman will play the object of Bell’s loathing. It’s due to be directed by Adny Fickman (The Game Plan, Race To Witch Mountain).
But hang on a minute, didn’t Jamie Lee Curtis announce her retirement a couple of years ago, blaming a lack of decent parts for women her age? She clearly must have changed her mind, as she’s now appeared in Beverly Hills Chihuahua and now this. As neither sounds like they’re exactly going to stretch her, it appears she’s given in to generic roles middle-aged women are given.
