When you’re best known as the Pulitzer prizewinning author of The Hours, what do you do next? Well, you write a slasher flick of course! Yep, Michael Cunningham has decided his next move will be a horror pic about a series of revenge killings executed by an English Literature who is obsessed with one of his students.
Apparently Cunningham has always been a horror fan, saying, “While I was writing about Virginia Woolf, my mind was never far removed from the idea of girls in bikinis being hacked up by guys wearing hockey masks and I vowed that if I ever had a good idea, I would write one of these scary movies.”
The movie is due to be called Beatiful Girls and may not be Cunningham’s only venture into genre pic territory, as he also added, “This summer, I will finish a novel where nobody gets anything gouged out of them, but my plan is to then write another idea I have for an actual monster movie. As it turns out, we sometimes find we can do more than one thing.”
