Zombies are de rigeur at the moment. Personally I blame Danny Boyle and 28 Days Later, but there’s no doubt that zombies are pretty darn popular (and yes, I know the infected in 28 Days Later weren’t technically undead, but they still helped kick off the zombie renaissance).
The latest movie to join the undead throng is an apdaptation of the comic series, Deadworld. David Hayter (X2, Watchmen) will write and produce.
The Deadworld comics are set in a post-apocalytic world where zombies rule and humans are few and far between. Protag is the Harley-riding king zombie, who holds a grudge against the survivors of the apocalypse, who made him an outcast.
Apparently the adaptation is planned as a multi-picture deal, with Hayter tasked with coming up with a storyline that run through several features. The first Deadworld movie is due to go into production next year.
