It’s been announced that Star Trek stud Chris Pine, is in negotations to join the cast of Tony Scott’s new thriller, Unstoppable. He would co-star opposite Denzel Washington, who’s become a bit of a Scott staple in recent years after Crimson Tide, Man On Fire, Deja Vu and the upcoming remake of The Taking Of Pelham 123.
The film centers of Washington’s experienced train engineer, who’s about to be laid, while Pine would play the cheaper newbie hired to replace him. They have to team up to stop a runaway freight train that filled with flammable liquids and headed into a city.
While the plot sounds a bit so-so, the Scott & Washington combination is normally a decent sign of an entertaining movie, and could be a good one for Pine to follow up his Star Trek success.
Since the release of Star Trek, Pine’s name has been linked to numerous projects, from the comic book adaptation Green Lantern to the comedy Friends With Enemy, but one thing he’s definitely doing is appearing in the play Farragut North, which opens at the Geffen Theater in LA on June 24th
