Hollywood really has run out of ideas. It’s not going to be long before every film made is a remake or sequel. More proof of this is that according to JoBlo, Hollywood is seriously looking at remaking the 1985 Schwarzenegger flick, Commando. Apparently the idea has been in the works for a while and may be moving forward soon.
The endless remakes come from the fact that Hollywood has realised that even a movie with a pretty generic plot, which Commando certainly has, is likely to do far better at the box office than the same movie without a recognisable name.
And just to show that Arnie has lost none of his draw, it’s also been reportend that while you can see Arnie flexing his muscles in CG in Terminator Salvation, director Robert Rodriguez is now chasing the real California Governor to appear in his Predator sequel/reboot, (which is cryptically titled, ‘Predators’). While Rodriguez has a unerring ability to announce films and them drop out of them, it seems he might actually be serious about this continuation of Predator franchise, which is being treated as an official sequel to McTiernan’s original movie.
Apparently Rodriquez is so confident he’ll nab the Governator that they’ve included a small part for Major Dutch (Arnie’s character) in the latest version of the screenplay. However so far Scwarzenegger isn’t committing to anything.
Predators is due out next July, but there’s no news yet on when, or if, the Commando remake will go into production.
