Jack Nicholson has had a pretty good relationship over the years with James L. Brooks. So far Nicholson has won two Oscars for films directed by Brooks, with a Best Supporting Actor gong for Terms Of Endearment and a Best Actor Oscar for As Good As It Gets. It’s now reported the duo may team up again for Brooks’ new flick, where he would join the already cast Paul Rudd, Reese Witherspoon and Owen Wilson.
Originally it had been Bill Murray who’d been in talks to play the posh father of Rudd’s character, although it appears the Lost In Translation actor has now dropped out and Nicholson is being lined up to replace him. Well, we say dropped out, but according to Variety it was a more Murray way of doing things, where he gradually just stopped talking to producers and wouldn’t commit, and so with shooting due to begin in less than two weeks, Brooks went off and has tried to sign Nicholson.
The as yet untitled films features a love triangle, with Rudd vying for Witherspoon’s affection and Wilson also after them.
