We might not have had a new Scream movie since 2000, but it’s recently been announced that the series’ creator, Kevin Williamson, is working on a new trilogy of Scream pics, set to terrorise the latest generation, and that he’s approached many of the original cast with the idea of them having cameo roles. With Wes Craven also apparently on board for a fourth instalment, let’s just hope they can make this a worthwhile outing, rather than something for them to do during career lulls.
Williamson has said that he’s pitched his ideas to David Arquette and his wife Courtney Cox Arquette, and that they’re thinking about reprising their roles in the new film. He’s also hoping for cameos from other stars of the original trilogy, such as Never Campbell, Matthew Lillard and various others. However it appears the main action will have moved on to a new generation of teens, all ready to run around screaming while a ghostface killer tries to off them.
Filming on the project is due to start later this year for a 2010 release.
