Angelina Jolie must be feeling very old this morning after it was announced that a third Tomb Raider movie is in the works, but she’s been deemed too old for the role. Despite the fact she has several hundred children, the Wanted actress is only 33, but that makes her virtually prehistoric for what the producers are planning.
With the current vogue for origin tales (which is becoming a handy way for filmmakers not to have to think about an actual plot), they’re planning on taking Lara back to the beginning of her adventures and that this will therefore require a younger actress. At the moment there’s no news on casting, although inevitably some people have been suggesting Megan Fox for the role (we don’t want to be mean, but despite her general hotness, we’re not convinced she’d be able hold down a convincing English accent, but then, her acting skills aren’t what most people are interested in).
While Angie is probably investing in anti-aging wrinkle cream this very minute, she can take solace in the fact that she probably wasn’t that desperate to return to the role, especially as her first two Lara adventures weren’t that great.
