While it’s not uncommon for studios to buy the movie rights to a book before its published, it’s not that often the film rights are sold before a book has a publisher, but that’s what happened with Boston Teran’s new novel, The Creed Of Violence. The book isn’t due to be published until the autumn, but it’s already been announced that Little Children and In The Bedroom director Todd Field has agreed to write the screenplay for the movie version.
The book is set in 1910 and follows a criminal called Rawbone who buys some arms and plans to take them from America over the Meixcan border to sell them. However when he’s caught, the government convinces him to go through with his plan, but with a secret agent in tow. It’s the second book from Teran, who wrote the cult novel God Is A Bullet.
It hasn’t been announced whether Field will also direct the movie, but as he rarely writes something he doesn’t direct, there’s a good chance he’ll also be behind the lens.
