During a recent chat with Hitfix, actor Ryan Reynolds gave away a few hints about the upcoming spin-off from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, featuring his character, Deadpool. Despite the events of that movie, it doesn’t seem like it’ll stop the character, with Reynolds saying, “Well, I’m intimately involved with it. We’re just trying to break a story right now and figure out who the villain is going to be and all that stuff. But, it’s going to be just like the comic books. I’m gonna have a messed up face and you may see some flashbacks of Wade earlier in his life, but primarily what you see is what you get in the comics and that’s the goal. And there is no better place to draw material from than the comics, which are incredible.”
It seems Fox is pinning a lot of the X-Men franchise, with there still being talk of a Magneto origins movie, a Wolverine 2 movie now in the works, many expecting a Gambit flick, as well as a movie called X-Men: First Class, which may feature many of the young mutants seen towards the end of Wolverine. The more you look at it, the more Wolverine seems less like a film and more like an extended trailer for numerous other X-Men flicks. However with such a broad array of characters involved in the franchise, there’s little doubt there’s plenty of material to work with.
