While most thrillers get drubbed by critics as a matter of course, Duplicity got some fairly decent notices when it was released at the cinema. Now Universal has announced that the Clive Owen and Julia Roberts flick will be coming out on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on July 13th.
The film sees Owen and Roberts as Mi6 and CIA spies respectively, both trying to make some money by working for rival multinational corporations who are keen to get their hands on a formula that will make millions for whatever company gets the patent. However the secret agents start an illicit affair, but are they conning each other to get closer to their objective, or could a real attraction throw the whole mission into disarray?
It’s a bit like a less hyperactive Mr And Mrs Smith, with the a-list duo obviously enjoying reuniting on screen after Closer in 2004. The DVD and Blu-ray releases will be out on July 13th, but it doesn’t look like there’s going to be a lot in the way of special features, with only an audio commentary with director Tony Gilroy included (the Blu-ray will also link to BD-Live). It may not be a great feature selection, but the film’s worth a look.
