Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that the remake of Friday The 13th will be coming out on DVD and Blu-ray on August 10th. They’ve also promised it’ll be a ‘Killer Cut’ featuring footage not seen in cinemas.
Originally it seemed a bit pointless doing a remake of FridayThe 13th, partly because the infamous hockey mask wearing Jason isn’t the killer in the 1980 movie, but the new flick gets round that by, well, making infamous hockey mask wearing Jason the killer. Jared Padalecki (of Supernatural fame) and friend head off to the legendary Crystal Lake, only to find themselves stalked by a vicious killer. The movie is directed by Marcus Nispel, who also helmed the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Special features on the DVD release will include ‘The Rebirth Of Jason Vorhees’ and ‘Hacking Back / Slashing Forward’ featurettes, as well as deleted scenes and the ‘7 best kills’. The Blu-ray will have all that plus a picture-in-picture commentary.
