The Wedding Ringer Trailer – Josh Gad needs Kevin Hart to be his fake Best Man

29th December 2014 By Tim Isaac

Kevin Hart, Josh Gad and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting star in the wedding/bromance comedy The Wedding Ringer, which is hoping to keep up chuckling through the cold winter nights, and to get us in the mood, a new trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Doug Harris (Josh Gad) is a loveable but socially awkward groom-to-be with a problem: he has no best man. With less than two weeks to go until he marries the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Doug is referred to Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart), owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company that provides flattering best men for socially challenged guys in need. What ensues is a hilarious wedding charade as they try to pull off the big con, and an unexpected budding bromance between Doug and his fake best man Jimmy.’

It’s out in the US in January and hits the UK on February 20th.

Entourage Movie Trailer – The boys are back and coming to the big screen

23rd December 2014 By Tim Isaac

Ever since Entourage ended on TV there’s been a lot of talk about a movie version, but it was – like the 24 film – one of those things that most people thought was unlikely to ever happen. However eventually everything was worked out and the entire main cast reunited to make the film.

Now the first teaser trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘”Entourage,” the much-anticipated big-screen version of the award-winning hit HBO series, reunites the show’s original cast, led by Kevin Connolly, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Jerry Ferrara and Jeremy Piven.

‘Movie star Vincent Chase (Grenier), together with his boys, Eric (Connolly), Turtle (Ferrara) and Johnny (Dillon), are back…and back in business with super agent-turned-studio head Ari Gold (Piven). Some of their ambitions have changed, but the bond between them remains strong as they navigate the capricious and often cutthroat world of Hollywood.

‘Also starring are Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment as father and son, Larsen and Travis McCredle. Returning cast from the series also includes Perrey Reeves as Ari Gold’s wife; Emmanuelle Chriqui as Sloan; Rhys Coiro as Billy Walsh; Debi Mazar as Vince’s publicist, Shauna; Rex Lee as Lloyd; Constance Zimmer as Dana Gordon; and Nora Dunn as Dr. Marcus. Emily Ratajkowski appears as herself. Rounding out the cast are Alan Dale, who appeared in the series, rapper Scott Mescudi, and Rhonda Rousey.

‘”Entourage” creator Doug Ellin is directing the feature film from his own screenplay.’

It’s due in cinemas next June.

Exodus: Gods & Kings – Ridley Scott takes on Moses with Christian Bale

23rd December 2014 By Tim Isaac

Ridley Scott is one of the most revered directors of our time. While he’s worked in all sorts of genres, he’s had particular success with ground-breaking classic sci-fi such as Alien, as well historical biographies or fiction, which often turn out to be masterpieces such as the multi award winning Gladiator. There is no doubt that Scott is one of cinema’s greatest storytellers.

This time Ridley Scott brings to our screen possibly the third greatest story ever told (after the birth of Jesus and Noah) – the Exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt. This Old Testament tale of Moses was immortalised by Charlton Heston in 1956’s The Ten Commandments, but who could possibly fill this famous pair of sandals this time? Well, none other than Batman himself – Christian Bale.

The story is familiar to all, but in a nutshell Moses is a Prince of Egypt born to Jewish parents but brought up in the palaces after being found in the bulrushes. Once his secret is discovered he is exiled. Then, after hearing the word of god, his mission is then to become the saviour of the Hebrew slaves from the tyranny of Egypt. It’s nearly 60 years since The Ten Commandments was made, does this film add anything more? Well yes and no – the original is a classic, but there is a young audience out there that would not watch anything prior to the 1990s.

In the 2014 version, we have 3D which does add something to the sweeping panoramic shots of Egypt, zooming over the statues and pyramids etc. And it is also used to great effects when the plagues sweep through the narrow streets.

Is there an audience for Biblical epics? Well, there is interest, as Noah didn’t do too badly at the box office despite mediocre reviews and a few liberties made to the story (perhaps Scott’s male muse, Russell Crowe, should have jumped ship to this better adaptation). There are no rock like transformers in this movie, yet the explanation of Moses’ visions are handled excellently as they come to him after a serious knock on the head and a child manifests itself as the voice of God, thus adding a note of speculation to the story.

As for the acting, there are solid performances from all, Bale is as powerful and intense as expected as Moses, Joel Egerton plays the role of Ramses perfectly, as do the supporting cast, including Sigourney Weaver in a blink and you will miss it role

Overall Verdict: Like many of Ridley Scott’s movies expect expert storytelling, brilliant location shots, attention to detail in jewellery and costumes and also direction at its best, this is an epic film, just like the source material. So If Hobbits are not your thing this Christmas, go and see this biblical epic for its solid acting, the great effects of the plagues, the parting of the sea and its subsequent consequences.

New Focus Trailer – Will Smith shows off his con man side

22nd December 2014 By Tim Isaac

Will Smith is showing off a slightly different side in Focus. He’s previously been known to turn down roles if his character wasn’t an out-and-out good guy, but that’s certainly now the case here.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Will Smith stars as Nicky, a seasoned master of misdirection who becomes romantically involved with novice con artist Jess (Margot Robbie). As he’s teaching her the tricks of the trade, she gets too close for comfort and he abruptly breaks it off. Three years later, the former flame—now an accomplished femme fatale—shows up in Buenos Aires in the middle of the high-stakes racecar circuit. In the midst of Nicky’s latest, very dangerous scheme, she throws his plans for a loop… and the consummate con man off his game.’

It’s defnitely something a bit different for Will. The film is due out in the UK on February 27th, 2015.

New In The Heart of the Sea Trailer – Chris Hemsworth and Ben Whishaw have a whale of a tale

22nd December 2014 By Tim Isaac

Next spring Chris Hemsworth has got two very different battles on his hands, one superhero powered one in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and another against a huge whale in In The Heart Of The Sea. A new trailer for the latter has now arrived, which you can watch below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Oscar winner Ron Howard (“A Beautiful Mind”) directs the action adventure “In the Heart of the Sea,” based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s best-selling book about the dramatic true journey of the Essex.

‘In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “In the Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

‘”In the Heart of the Sea” stars Chris Hemsworth (“The Avengers,” “Rush”) as the vessel’s veteran first mate Owen Chase; Benjamin Walker (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”) as its inexperienced Captain, George Pollard; Cillian Murphy (“The Dark Knight Rises”) as second mate Matthew Joy; and Ben Whishaw (“Skyfall”) as novelist Herman Melville, whose inquiries into the event 30 years later helped bring the story to light.

‘Tom Holland (“The Impossible”) also stars as young seaman Tom Nickerson, and Brendan Gleeson (“Edge of Tomorrow”) as the same man, 30 years later. Spanish actor Jordi Mollà (“Riddick”) is the captain of another ship, the Archimedes, who tries to warn the Essex of what may lie ahead.’

Thankfully from the trailer it doesn’t look like this film will be as stunningly boring as Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.

First The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Pic Arrives – Henry Cavill & Armie Hammer are looking stylish

22nd December 2014 By Tim Isaac

The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is one of those movies that loked like it would never happen. A film version of the 60s TV show has been talked about for years, with the likes of Tom Cruise, Channing Tatum, Joel Edgerton, Bradley Cooper, and George Clooney all circling to star, and Matthew Vaughn, David Dobkin, and Steven Soderbergh slated to direct. But for various reasons they all moved on.

However then Guy Ritchie signed up to helm, with Henry Cavill as CIA agent Napoleon Solo and Armie Hammer as KGB agent Illya Kuryakin.

The movie went in front of the cameras a while ago but it’s only now we’re getting the first image, which shows, Cavill, Hammer and Alicia Vikander looking rather stylish.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘
Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin in director Guy Ritchie’s action adventure “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series.

‘Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.’
