Ant-Man Trailer – Plus the first poster for Paul Rudd in Marvel’s movie

7th January 2015 By Tim Isaac

While Marvel’s cinematic universe has been wildly successful, it’s not resting on its laurels and is now in expansion mode, with films about various new characters in the works. The first of those to arrive will be Ant-Man, which is due to arrive in UK cinemas July 17th, 2015.

Now to get us excited, the first trailer and ‘ant-sized’ poster for the movie have arrived, which you can see above and below, along with a bit of a close-up on Paul Rudd in the poster from the latest cover of EW.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip “Ti” Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale, Jordi Mollà as Castillo and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. Directed by Peyton Reed and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Ant-Man” delivers a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure on July 17, 2015.’

Good Kill Trailer – Ethan Hawke turns drone pilot

7th January 2015 By Tim Isaac

There’s been an increasing uncertainty amongst the public about the use of unmanned drones, both in military and civilian life. The film Good Kill takes is into that world, where people far from a warzone have control of drones able to kill those thousands of miles away.

Now the first trailer for the Ethan Hawke movie has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film tell the story of a Las Vegas fighter-pilot turned drone-pilot (Ethan Hawke), wo fights the Taliban via remote control for half of his day, then goes home to his wife (January Jones) and kids in the suburbs for the other half. But the pilot is starting to question the mission. Is he creating more terrorists than he’s killing? Is he fighting a war without end? One soldier’s tale with epic implications.’

Andrew Niccol (Lord Of War, Gattaca) directs, with an April 10th 2015 UK release set.

T.J. Miller And Ed Skrein Up For Deadpool – They join Ryan Reynolds in the X-Men expansion

7th January 2015 By Tim Isaac

Poor old T.J. Miller didn’t last too long in Transformers: Age Of Extinction, quickly going from major character to dead in the first half hour, but hopefully he’ll last longer in Deadpool, as he and Ed Skrein are both in talks for the film, according to TheWrap.

Ryan Reynolds will return in the title role, which is part of Fox’s attempts to expand their X-Men world, which also includes a Channing Tatum Gambit movie. It’s not known exactly which role either of the new actors will play, but Miller is said to be ‘an additional comic voice to compliment Deadpool’, while it’s speculated that Skrein may be the main villain.

Fans of Deadpool have been watching the development of the movie carefully, especially as most felt X-Men Origins: Wolverine got him wrong. Deadpool in the comics is far funnier and sarcastic than most film superheroes, and often ‘breaks the fourth wall’ by directly addressing the audience. While it’s not know exactly what Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick’s screenplay contains, its believed they’re trying to keep the comic’s tone while still allowing it to exist within the X-Men film universe.

The film is expected in cinemas in 2016.

Scarlett Johansson Up For Ghost In The Shell – She’s on for Rupert Sanders’ live-action film

5th January 2015 By Tim Isaac

Scarlett Johansson continues her mission to be the world’s premiere female action star as after a few months of being rumoured for the role, she’s signed up star in the planned live-action Ghost in the Shell film, according to Variety.

Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) is set to direct the movie, which is based on Masamune Shirow’s 1989 Manga, about a covert unit within the Japanese National Public Safety Commission who fight tech-related crimes. Since it’s publication, it’s been adapted into an animate powerhouse franchise with the likes of Ghost In The Shell, Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence, Ghost in the Shell: Individual Eleven, Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – The Laughing Man and Ghost in the Shell 2.0. It’s also been turned into successful videogames.

It’s not clear exactly who Johansson will play.

The movie is still waiting for the greenlight, although with Johansson onboard a decision about how the project will move forward is expected soon, especially as it’s believed Paramount will decide whether to co-produce in the next few weeks.

First Pics From Jane Got A Gun – Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton & more head for the old west

5th January 2015 By Tim Isaac

Jane Got A Gun is unfortunately more intriguing for whether they’ve managed to pull it back from the mess it threatened to become than the movie itself. After ages in development the whole thing nearly collapsed the day before production was due to start when director Lynn Ramsey decided to quit.

That led to delays, a musical chairs casting roulette and Warrior’s Gavin O’Connor stepping in to helm.

However the movie is now in the can and heading to cinemas in the US in September, although no UK date is currently set, and the first images have now arrived.

Natalie Portman stars as the title character, whose husband (Noah Emmerich) comes home riddled with bullet wounds. When the band of outlaws of shot him comes to Jane’s farm to finish the job, she seeks help from a former lover (Joel Edgerton) to ward off these gunmen. Ewan McGregor is playing the leader of the bad guys, with Boyd Holbrook as his younger brother.
