Charlie Hunnam Going To Lost City of Z – Joining Sienna Miller and Robert Pattinson

3rd February 2015 By Tim Isaac

It’s taking a while to get the cast of Lost City Of Z cast together. A few months ago Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller came onboard, joining Benedict Cumberbatch. However the Sherlock star’s Doctor Strange commitments have cause him to drop out and so he’s now being replaced by Charlie Hunnam, according to Variety.

The film will be directed by James Gray, based on David Grann’s book about doomed Amazon explorer Colonel Percy Harrison Fawcett (Hunnam).

Here’s a few more details about the book: ‘In 1925, Fawcett ventured into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of the most important discoveries in history. For centuries Europeans believed the world’s largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado. Thousands had died looking for it, leaving many scientists convinced that the Amazon was truly inimical to humankind. But Fawcett, whose daring expeditions helped inspire Conan Doyle’s The Lost World, had spent years building his scientific case. Captivating the imagination of millions around the globe, Fawcett embarked with his twenty-one-year-old son, determined to prove that this ancient civilization—which he dubbed “Z”—existed. Then he and his expedition vanished.’

The movie should shoot later this year.

Felicity Jones Gets Star Wars Spinoff Lead Role – With Aaron Paul look at for the male lead

3rd February 2015 By Tim Isaac

Last week we reported that the likes of Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Rooney Mara (Pan) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) were testing for the female lead in the Star Wars spin-off film that Gareth Edwards is directing.

Well now that’s been wittled down to one as THR reports it’s Felicity Jones who’s in talks for the role. They also suggest that the search is now on for the male lead, with Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez amongst those being looked at.

Unfortunately there’s still no info on who she Jones might be playing, or indeed what the movie will be about. Rumours have ranged from it being an origin story for Boba Fett to the tale of a young Han Solo when he was mixed up with a group of space pirates. As for the female lead, some are suggesting it will be Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian weapons expert and graffiti artist seen in the TV series, Star Wars Rebels.

Hopefully we’ll have more info soon.

Lost River Trailer – Best look yet at Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut

3rd February 2015 By Tim Isaac

Lost River looks like an intriguing and somewhat strange movie, which isn’t too surprising for what is Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut. There’s still a lot of people who are keen to see it, even if it’s been getting rather mixed reports from film festivals.

Now the first proper trailer has arrived, so we can take a look at what all the fuss is about.

The film has been described as being ‘Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, BILLY, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while BONES, her eighteen-year-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.’

It’s all a little peculiar, but the likes of Christina Hendricks, Iain De Caestecker, Eva Mendes, Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith certainly seem to be having fun with it.

Lost River will reach the US on April 10th and the UK on April 24th.

New Minions Trailer – The little yellow ones have a movie of their own

3rd February 2015 By Tim Isaac

Without the Minions, there’s a good chance Despicable Me wouldn’t have been the hit it was. If nothing else they’ve been a massive merchandising bonanza, so it’s not too much of a shock that the small, yellow oblongs are getting their own film.

Now a new trailer has arrived which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’sMinionsbegins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters – from T. rex to Napoleon – the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

‘But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he – alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob – ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

‘The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award®winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation.

‘Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ’60s that still permeates our culture today,Minionsis produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the 3D-CG comedy adventure, and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.’

The movie is due out June 2015.

Movie Super Bowl Spot Round-Up – Fifty Shades, Minions, Ted 2 & Pitch Perfect 2

2nd February 2015 By Tim Isaac

While there aren’t as many massive movie Super Bowl spots as there used to be, it’s still a popular way for Hollywood to show off their upcoming wares. We’ve already posted spots for Terminator Genisys, Jurassic World, Fast & Furious 7, Inside Out and Tomorrowland, but that wasn’t all.

So take a look below for the spots for Fifty Shades, Minions, Ted 2 & Pitch Perfect 2. The Ted 2 one is the most football related, as it features Patriots player Tom Brady meeting Mark Wahlberg and the tititual teddy, while he’s in bed.

Fifty Shades wants to know whether you’re curious, Pitch Perfect 2 is showing off the music and Minions is as small and yellow as you’d expect. It’s certainly looking like a busy year at the cinema.

Inside Out ‘Puppy Bowl’ Spot – Pixar has a different take on Super Bowl commercials

2nd February 2015 By Tim Isaac

Now everyone is interested in sports, but if it was puppies playing, perhaps even they would be drawn in. In Pixar’s take on a Super Bowl spot they introduce us to the Puppy Bowl, where little doggies are in competition.

It’s a great way of showing us the film’s premise, which turns the emotions of a young girl into characters inside her mind. Take a look below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie ” Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

‘Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.’

It’ll be in US cinemas in June and the UK in July, 2015.
