Take Your First Look At The Suicide Squad In Costume – David Ayer shares a cast photo

4th May 2015 By Tim Isaac

Suicide Squad has only just started shooting, but director David Ayer is taking a rather different tack with the film than the usual secrecy that surrounds superhero movies, as he’s keen to share pics. It makes sense as currently few non-comic book fans know much about it, even if they may have heard of some of the characters, so getting the word out early is going to help.

A few days ago Ayer posted the first pic of Jared Leto in full Joker make-up, and before that we got many of the cast gathered together for a table read. Now he’s given us a glance at the Suicide Squad in costume, all looking pretty rough and tough. Indeed, it took me a second glance to realise that it was Will Smith third from the right.

In the image from left to right there is Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo.

While little has been released about the movie, the reason Leto isn’t there is that he’s the villain these guys are after. Most of them are bad guys themselves, who’ve all been locked up but are given a chance at redemption by teaming up for a mission none of them are expected to survive. That team becomes known as Task Force X.

Suicide Squad is due out August 2016.

3rd May 2015 By Tim Isaac

The Battle of The Somme marked one of the bloodiest battles in human history wounding and killing 1,000,000 German and Allied soldiers in its wake.

But…there was no winner. Now, 100 years later, a documentary team – led by filmmaker Marcus Singh (RAY PANTHAKI – 28 Days Later) and Emma Washington (WENDY GLENN – You’re Next) – has travelled to the site to unveil the mysteries that led to that horrendous outcome. But what they unearth is something far worse than they could have imagined – the fallen armies, risen, with an agenda to settle the score.

Channing Tatum Enlists In The Forever War – He’s sold the project to Warner Bros.

3rd May 2015 By Tim Isaac

A bidding war broke out last week in Hollywood for the sci-fi movie Forever, which has Channing Tatum attached to star. THR reports that Warner Bros. won out and has snapped up the package, which is based on Joe Haldeman’s 1974 sci-fi war comic.

Prometheus and Passengers screenwriter Jon Spaihts will write the script, about ‘a young man conscripted into a military task force during a war against an alien species named the Taurans. Through many battles, the man rises up the ranks of the military, but traveling through space has time-warping effects, causing him to age normally while Earth spins centuries.

‘The planet undergoes many changes, including humanity’s melding into one homogenous race, the eliminating of heterosexuality and the speaking of a new language. At the same time, the man tries to remain connected to his true love, a fellow (and female) soldier who also uses space-time to slow down her aging so she can be with him.’

It sounds a bit like Interstellar, but less likely to be in danger of disappearing up its own ass. There’s no news on when it might shoot or who’s directing.

Fantastic Four Character Posters Arrive – Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan

30th April 2015 By Tim Isaac

Gone are Ioan Gruffudd, Chris Evans and co. and they’re been replaced by the youthful Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan. And now to give us a better look some character posters have arrived.

Well, you don’t get to see Jamie Bell, as he’s been turned into the hulking CGI form of The Thing, while Teller is Mr. Fantastic, Jordan the Human Torch and Mara the Invisible Woman.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.’

The movie is due out in August.

Legend Teaser Trailer – Tom Hardy plays both Kray Twins in the upcoming movie

30th April 2015 By Tim Isaac

Nope, Tom Hardy isn’t starring in a remake of the 1985 Ridley Scott fantasy, as this is something rather different. Instead he’s playing both Reggie and Ronnie Kray, which must have been an interesting acting challenge for considering he’s both of the main characters.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award® winner Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) comes the true story of the rise and fall of London’s most notorious gangsters, Reggie and Ron Kray, both portrayed by Tom Hardy in an incredible performance. LEGEND is a classic crime thriller taking us into the secret history of the 1960s and the extraordinary events that secured the infamy of the Kray Twins.’

Emily Browning (Sucker Punch), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything, The Harry Potter series), Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World) and Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) also star. Legend is released in cinemas across the UK on September 11th.
