13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi Trailer – Michael Bay heads for Benghazi with John Krasinski

29th July 2015 By Tim Isaac

Michael Bay may be known for throwaway popcorn action on a massive scale, but he’s getting a little more serious for 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

The film, which stars John Krasinski, Dominic Fumusa, James Badge Dale, Max Martini and Pablo Schreiber, now has a trailer, which you can watch below.

The movie is based on Mitchell Zuckoff’s book, which centres on six members of a security team. After the facility came under attack from militants angered about the recently release of a trailer for an Islam-bashing film called ‘Innocence Of Muslims’ and the anniversary of 9/11. The team fought to defend the lives of the Americans in the compound, although the attack claimed the life of US Ambassador Christopher J. Stevens and a foreign service worker, while two contract workers died in a second attack at a nearby CIA facility.

Chuck Hogan (The Town, The Strain) wrote the screenplay. The film is due out at the end of the year.

First Pic Of Cillian Murphy & Jamie Dornan In Anthropoid – They’re trying to assassinate a Nazi

29th July 2015 By Tim Isaac

Anthropoid sounds like the title of the sci-fi movie, but it’s actually something a little more serious and historic that that, as it’s about a real-life mission to kill a Nazi leader. The movie has just started shooting, with Toby Jones, Harry Lloyd, Bill Milner, Alena Mihulovájoin, Jamie Dornan, Cillian Murphy, Anna Geislerová and Charlotte Le Bon starring.

The first pic has now arrived, featuring Jamie and Cillian.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In 1941 Czechoslovakia was occupied by Nazi forces, governed by SS General Reinhard Heydrich. Nicknamed “The Butcher of Prague”, Heydrich had a meteoric rise through the SS ranks and was now second only to Himmler and Hitler in the Third Reich’s hierarchy. His unparalleled brutality and reign of terror on the Czech resistance movement led Allied authorities in London to hatch a top-secret mission that would change history.

‘Trained by British forces, two soldiers from Czechoslovakia’s army-in-exile were to be parachuted into their homeland with a daring assignment: to assassinate the man many saw as Hitler’s natural successor. ANTHROPOID tells the incredible story of this remarkable operation and the fate of these unsung heroes of WWII.’

Jake Gyllenhaal Circling Stronger – He may join the Boston Marathon Bombing film

29th July 2015 By Tim Isaac

Shortly after the Boston Marathon Bombing various people announced they were planning movies based around the tragedy. However, so far none has made it to the screen. One of the movies still working its way through pre-production and may have found a new star, as Variety reports Jake Gyllenhaal is circling the movie.

If he signs on he’d play Jeff Bauman, who survived the bombing but lost both legs. Jake’s not the only actor in contention but it appears he’s the favourite to land the part, undoubtedly helped by his excellent performance in another underdog tale, Southpaw.

Bauman had a central role in the story, as film will ‘detail the aftermath of the 2013 attack at the marathon finish line, where Bauman had been cheering for his girlfriend. A photo of Bauman moments after the blast remains one of the best-known images from the tragedy, which killed three and injured more than 260. When Bauman awoke the next day after surgeries and realized he could not speak, he asked for a pad and paper and wrote: “Saw the guy. Looked right at me.” That set off a massive manhunt for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was convicted of the murders in April.’

David Gordon Green is set to direct the movie, with John Pollono writing the script, based on a book by Bauman and Bret Witter.

Hugh Jackman Shares First Wolverine Sequel Pic – He’s putting on the claws one last time

28th July 2015 By Tim Isaac

Fox has a lot of X-Men in the works, with Deadpool, X-Men: Apocalypse and possibly Gambit next year, and then a currently untitled Wolverine sequel set for 2017. Plus there’s talk of X-Men and Fantastic Four crossing over.

While the Wolverine movie – which Hugh Jackman has said will be his last time playing the character – hasn’t gone in front of the camera yet, the actor has released a promo pic via Twitter, along with the message ‘My last time putting on the claws. What do you want to see happen? 50 words or less. I’ll read as many as I can.’

It’s not been confirmed what the movie will be about, but rumours suggest it will be based on the Old Man Logan storyline, which is set at a time when Wolverine is trying to live a quiet, simple life in a world dominated by superviallian, but is pulled back into the world of mutants when he’s asked to help deliver a package. James Mangold will once more direct.
