New Dad’s Army Trailer – Don’t panic, the Brit sitcom is getting a big screen makeover

22nd October 2015 By Tim Isaac

Yesterday we posted a set of character posters for the big screen version of the classic British sitcom Dad’s Army, and that’s now been followed by a new trailer, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It is 1944 and World War II is reaching its climax. The Allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army. But in Walmington-on-Sea morale amongst the Home Guard is low. Their new mission then – to patrol the Dover army base – is a great chance to revive spirits and reputation, that is until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about their exploits, setting the pulses racing and putting the local women on red alert. MI5 then discover a radio signal sent direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea. There’s a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is suddenly at stake, and it falls to our unlikely heroes to stand up and be counted.

‘Dad’s Army’s all-star British cast includes Bill Nighy as Wilson (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Love Actually), Catherine Zeta Jones as Rose (Side Effects, Chicago, The Legend of Zorro), Toby Jones as Captain Mainwaring (The Hunger Games, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows), Tom Courtenay as Corporal Jones (Quartet), Michael Gambon as Godfrey (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The King’s Speech), Blake Harrison as Pike (The Inbetweeners), Danny Mays as Walker (Atonement), Bill Paterson as Fraser (Miss Potter), Sarah Lancashire (Last Tango in Halifax, Lark Rise to Candleford), Alison Steadman (Gavin & Stacey) , Mark Gatiss (Sherlock, Doctor Who), Annette Crosbie (What We Did on Our Holiday), Felicity Montagu (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Alan Partridge), Julia Foster (Alfie), Holli Dempsey (Derek), Oliver Tobias (Arthur of the Britons) and Emily Atack (The Inbetweeners).’

It’ll be out in UK Cinemas 5th February 2016.

Peyton Reed Returning To Direct Ant-Man And The Wasp – He’s in talks for the Marvel sequel

22nd October 2015 By Tim Isaac

Marvel hasn’t had a real failure yet despite making films from properties many people couldn’t work on screen. That’s certainly true of Ant-Man, especially after director Edgar Wright left it behind, as many thought he was the only one who could turn it into something worthwhile.

However Peyton Reed took over and turned it into a $450 million grossing hit. As a result Marvel wants him back and THR reports he’s in talks to return to helm the planned sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are both set to return for the film, and it’s expected many of the other actors from the first movie will be back too.

There’s no script yet, with Marvel planning to get going on that once Peyton Reed has signed on the dotted line, so that he can supervise it. It’s due out July 2018.

Jane Got A Gun Trailer – Natalie Portman goes to the Old West with Ewan McGregor

21st October 2015 By Tim Isaac

Jane Got A Gun got off to a really rough start, with cast issues and director Lynne Ramsey leaving the day before it was due to start shooting. That caused huge delays, more cast changes and the recruitment at short notice of a new helmer, Gavin O’Connor (Warrior).

Hopefully it’s manage to overcome those teething issues.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jane Got a Gun [Natalie Portman] centers on Jane Hammond, who has built a new life with her husband Bill “Ham” Hammond after being tormented by the ultra-violent Bishop Boys outlaw gang. She finds herself in the gang’s cross-hairs once again when Ham stumbles home riddled with bullets after dueling with the Boys and their relentless mastermind Colin. With the vengeful crew hot on Ham’s trail, Jane has nowhere to turn but to her former fiancé Dan Frost for help in defending her family against certain destruction. Haunted by old memories, Jane’s past meets the present in a heart-stopping battle for survival.’

Joy Trailer – Jennifer Lawrence invents the miracle mop for director David O. Russell

21st October 2015 By Tim Isaac

Jennifer Lawrence reunites with director David O. Russell (American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook) with a new film – all about mops. Well, sort of, as it’s about the inventor of the Miracle Mop, although as the trailer shows, it’s perhaps more mob movie (with a dash of comedy) than flowery biopic.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty, and love.’

Joy is in UK cinemas 1st January 2016. Take a look at the new trailer below.
