Noomi Rapace Up For Enzo Ferrari Biopic – Alongside Christian Bale, with Michael Mann directing

27th October 2015 By Tim Isaac

A couple of months ago news emerged that Christian Bale had signed on to play the central role in a biopic of Enzo Ferrari that director Michael Mann has been planning for many years.

Now THR adds that Noomi Rapace is in talks to star, with Paramount picking up the project to fund it.

The film apparently concentrates on a single year, 1957. That year is particularly significant for the Italian car-maker, as it was when Ferrari driver, Alfonso de Portago, was killed during the Mille Miglia race. The driver and nine spectators died when a tire blew out and his car careened into the roadside crowd.

It caused a major crisis for Ferrari that could have destroyed the company, especially as Enzo was charged with manslaughter over the event. Rapace would play Farrari’s wife, Laura Dominica.

Elizabeth Banks Returning To Direct Pitch Perfect 3 – The a capella ladies are coming back

27th October 2015 By Tim Isaac

Having produced Pitch Perfect, Elizabeth Banks proved she had a deft touch as a director with the sequel, scoring a huge hit and a lot of laughs. Now Variety has officially confirmed that she’ll be back for the third movie, Pitch Perfect 3.

While earlier plans had been to hand the franchise to Hailee Steinfeld and a new set of actors, the success of Pitch Perfect 2 has resulted in a rethink, and Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow are all now set to return, with Kay Cannon once more writing the script.

There’s no news on the plot, although presumably it will see the now graduated Barden Bellas finding an excuse to sing together once more.

Banks is also attached to helm Red Queen and a Charlie’s Angels, but Pitch Perfect 3 is likely to come first, as Universal has already set a summer 2017 release date.

Win The Nightmare On DVD! – Get your hands on the horror

27th October 2015 By Tim Isaac

Welcome to the most terrifying place on Earth…

A documentary-horror film exploring the phenomenon of ‘Sleep Paralysis’ through the eyes of eight very different people. These people (and a shockingly large number of others) often find themselves trapped between the sleeping and waking worlds, helpless, totally unable to move but aware of their surroundings while being subject to frequently disturbing sights and sounds.

A strange element to these visions is that despite the fact that they know nothing of one another, (and had never heard of sleep paralysis before it happened to them), many see similar ghostly ‘shadow men.’ This is one of many reasons many people insist this is more than just a sleep disorder.

THE NIGHTMARE digs deep into not only the particulars of these eight people’s uncanny experiences (through elaborate, sometimes surreal dramatisations), but it also explores their search to understand what they’ve gone through and how it’s changed their lives.

The Nightmare is out on DVD and download 26th October. Courtesy of Altitude Film Entertainment, we have a DVD copy to give away.

To be in with a chance of winning The Nightmare on DVD that we’ve got to give away, sign in to the site below (or click here to register) and answer the multiple choice question (see below for more details on how to enter). Dan Stevens Will Be Collosal – Alongside Anne Hathaway in the sci-fi pic

26th October 2015 By Tim Isaac

A while ago Anne Hathaway signed up to star in the arthouse monster movie Colossal, and now she’s got some company, as Variety reports that Dan Stevens has signed up to co-star.

Since Hathaway attached herself in May, the film has had a little trouble, with Japanese Godzilla studio, Toho, suing the makers over similarities to their property (not helped by comparisons the filmmakers themselves made). However now it seems to be moving forwards.

The film will see Hathaway as Gloria, an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown. But when news reports surface that a giant lizard is destroying Seoul (which was previously Tokyo, so the makers do seem to be deliberately moving away from Godzilla), Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is strangely connected to these far-off events via the power of her mind. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

Stevens will be the former boyfriend who ends up wanting her back.

Timecrimes and Open Windows director Nacho Vigalondo is set to direct the movie, which is already shooting.

New Pic Gives Us A Fresh Look At Jared Leto’s Joker – He’s looking mean

26th October 2015 By Tim Isaac

There’s a lot of interest in Jared Leto’s take on the Joker, which will appear in the upcoming Suicide Squad. From images we’ve previously seen we know he looks manic and a bit scary, and now Empire has released a new cover which gives us a full figure look at Leto in character.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘An all-star roster of actors has joined new action adventure Suicide Squad, bringing DC Comics’ super villain team to the big screen under the direction of David Ayer (“Fury”).

‘The film will star two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith (“The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Ali,” “Focus”) as Deadshot; Joel Kinnaman (“Run All Night”, “Robocop”) as Rick Flagg; Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street,” “Focus,” upcoming the “Tarzan” movie) as Harley Quinn; Oscar winner Jared Leto (“Dallas Buyers Club,” “Alexander”) as the Joker; Jai Courtney (“Divergent,” “The Water Diviner”) as Boomerang; and Cara Delevingne (“Anna Karenina,” upcoming “Pan”) as Enchantress.

‘Ayer is also writing the script for Suicide Squad, which is being produced by Charles Roven (“The Dark Knight” trilogy, upcoming “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”) and Richard Suckle (“American Hustle”). Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Colin Wilson and Geoff Johns are serving as executive producers.’

The film will be in cinemas August 2016.
