Avatar Interactive Trailer – Cool new desktop trailer app takes you inside the world of Pandora

25th November 2009 By Tim Isaac

Now this is rather cool, in order to make sure no film in history has been hyped as much as James Cameron’s Avatar, a rather cool new interactive trailer has been launched through the official movie site, which allows you to download a special app that takes you into an interactive trailer. The way it works is that once the application has installed and launched, it plays the trailer, before pausing at various points and offering hotspots that you can click on. This then takes you into featurettes about various characters and offering behind-the-scenes info about the movie, as well as offering plenty of new footage. The application with also show you the latest Avatar Twitter updates and various other bits and pieces. It’s certainly something a little different, so if you want to check it out, head over to http://www.avatarmovie.com/air/ and install the interactive trailer application. It’s a shame we can’t just embed it below, but it’s worth downloading and taking a look nevertheless.

New Youth In Revolt Trailer – Michael Cera has an evil alter-ego

25th November 2009 By Tim Isaac

Although Michael Cera has had a lot of success in the past couple of years, his quiet nerd schtick is in danger of getting a bit old, and so he seems to be deliberately trying to play with it in Youth In Revolt. In the film he starts out as his Juno-esque bumling quiet guy who’s fed up with being unlucky in love, and so creates a rebellious alter-ego called Francois, who’s more dangerous and able to get the girls. However his new persona starts to run out of control, getting him into all sorts of trouble. The Miguel Arteta directed film also stars Justin Long, Zach Galifianakis, Steve Buscemi and Ray Liotta, and is due in cinemas in the UK early next year.

The Last Station Trailer – McAvoy, Mirren, Plummer and Giamatti get their period drama on

25th November 2009 By Tim Isaac

If ever a film looked like it was hoping for awards success, it’s this one. James McAvoy plays Valentin, the new secretary of legendary Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy (of War and Peace fame), who gets more than he bargained for with his new job, as the aging Tolstoy (Christopher Plummer) has pretty much created his own religion, that includes vows of poverty and celibacy. His wife (Helen Mirren) isn’t particularly impressed by this, especially as she comes to believe Tolstoy may have signed a new will leaving his novels to the Russian people, rather than his family. The film, from director Michael Hoffman, may not sound that exciting, but the trailer makes it look like it may actually be a lot of fun, and more humourous than you’d expect. If nothing else, it’s got an incredible cast. The film arrives in the UK on February 19th, 2010.

Avatar Extended Clip – An action-packed 2.5 minutes from Cameron’s latest

24th November 2009 By Tim Isaac

Although some of this 2.5 minute clip will be familiar to anyone who watched the Avatar Day footage, it does feature plenty of new shots to look at, with Sam Worthington’s Na’Vi Avatar being chased by a viscious looking creature (apparently called a Thanator) on the alien world of Pandora and running for his life. If nothing else, it suggest James Cameron’s movie is going to be quite a visual feast, and that the CG is going to be unlike anything we’ve seen before. Anyway, take a look at the clip below and see whether it gets you more excited about the film or not. Avatar is in UK cinemas on December 17th. (Clip courtesy of IGN.com)
