New Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang Trailer – Full look at the upcoming Emma Thompson family sequel

7th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Although it’s been a surprise to many that they’ve made a sequel to Nanny McPhee, the first film is loved by many and has done exceedingly well on DVD, and so Emma Thompson is returning as the ugly but magical nanny who has a new family she has to help. While a brief teaser trailer has been released before, we now have a full promo for Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, which you can watch by clicking below. The film, which also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Ralph Fiennes, Maggie Smith and Rhys Ifans, is due in UK cinemas on March 26th.

Legion Film Clip – Angel fight!

6th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Legion looks all kinds of cool, with Paul Bettany as the Archangel Michael, who defends the people in an out of the way diner, one of whom is the only hope to stop God letting loose the apocalypse on mankind. The film is set to feature all manner of angel-on-angel action, and this clip sees Bettany and and a be-winged Kevin Durand going toe-to-to, fighting with everything from maces to machine guns. The film hits UK cinemas on March 5th, but click below for the cool new angel fight clip.

Our Family Wedding Trailer – All the culture clash fun of interracial marriage, again

6th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Is it just me, or would you have hoped we’d have got over the issue of interracial marriage by now? Well, apparently we haven’t as Our Family Wedding still thinks there’s plenty of mileage to get out of an African American marrying a Latina and the culture clash that ensues. Lance Gross and America Ferera play the happy couple, who find their families at war after she gets pregnant and they announce plans to wed. Taye Diggs, Forest Whitaker and Regina King also star, although from the looks of this trailer, I don’t there are going to be massive queues for the film at the multiplex. Our Family Wedding is out in the US in March, but not UK release date has been announced as yet. Click below to watch the trailer.

Brothers – UK Trailer – Gyllenhaal, Maguire and Portman look for Oscar nominations in new family drama

5th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

It’s a problem we’ve all faced. Your wife thinks you’re dead and so she sleeps with your brother. How many times has that happened to all of us? ‘Never’, you say? Oh well. Anyway, that’s the premise of Brothers, which hits UK cinemas on January 22nd. Tobey Maguire stars as a soldier who goes missing in Afghanistan, only to come home and discover that maybe his brother (Jake Gyllenhaal) has been comforting his wife (Natalie Portman) a little too much. It’s definitely an Oscar bait movie, and while it hasn’t got too much traction on the awards front yet, it did score Tobey Maguire a Golden Globes nomination. Now a new UK trailer has been released, so click below to see it.

Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll Trailer – Andy Serkis takes on Ian Dury

5th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Following the likes of Control, biopics of old British rockers seem quite popular at the moment. The latest is Mat Whitecross’ take on the life if Ian Dury, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, with Andy Serkis as the Blockheads singer, who was partially paralysed by polio as a trial, grew up to have great success in the music business (including penning the song the film’s title is taken from), before dying of cancer in 2000. The biopic of the outspoken Dury is out in UK cinemas on January 8th, but click below for the trailer.

Toy Story 3 Featurette – Get your first look at Mr. Pricklepants

4th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Although this new Toy Story 3 featurette doesn’t tell us much we don’t already know – director Lee Unkrich tells us Andy’s grown up, the toys end up dealing with the kids at a day care centre etc. – it does give us our very first look at a brand new character, Mr Pricklepants, a hedgehog toy voiced by Timothy Dalton. As hinted at in the featurette, Pricklepants is a pretentious tehspian toy, although as yet we have no idea what his role in the plot will be, although the suggestion seems to be that he’ll have a major part to play in proceedings. And yes, we’re now in the year when Toy Story 3 (in full 3D) will hit cinemas. It’ll arrive in the UK on July 23rd.
