This one looks like it might be good for some small scale fun. Two sisters, Jayne (Parkey Posey) and Laura (Demi Moore), return home to deal with their ailing father Joe (Rip Torn), only to face some surprising situations. The trailer offers some quirky comedy, which suggest it may be one to look out for. If you’re wondering why the poster (to the left) is pop art inspired, it’s because Happy Tears was directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein, son of famed artist Roy.
Alice In Wonderland Featurette – A brief opportunity to meet The Mad Hatter
Although it’s very short, the first featurette for Alice In Wonderland has arrived, which features some footage of the Mad Hatter and Johnny Depp talking about playing the role (we learn, for example, the fascinating info that the Mad Hatter is mad – who would’ve thought?). It’s also worth heading over to Movieweb, which has a load of new images from the Tim Burton film for you to savour. Alice In Wonderland is in cinemas on March 5th, but click below for the featurette.
MacGruber Green Band Trailer – This time with fewer swear words, but just as funny
Although similar to the Red Band trailer we posted yesterday, this new Green Band, family safe trailer for MacGruber features fewer swear words and a little bit of different footage from the upcoming comedy. Although it’s difficult to imagine the MacGruber skits from Saturday Night Live would make a successful movie, on this evidence it’s looking pretty good. The film hits cinemas in the Spring, but click below for the Green Band Trailer.
Buried Teaser Trailer – Ryan Reynolds gets trapped in a coffin
With its Sundance premiere fast approaching, the first teaser trailer for Buried has been released. In the film Ryan Reynolds play a US contractor in Iraq, who is kidnapped and wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it’s a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap. You better like Ryan Reynolds if you’re gonna go watch Buried, as it’s mostly him most of the time, and he can barely move. Click below to watch the trailer for Rodrigo Cortes’ film and prepare for the claustrophobia.
Avatar Extended Featurette – A 22-minute exploration of the creation of Pandora
Although a few Avatar featurettes were released online before the film was released, none were quite like this one. 20th Century Fox has released a 22-minute look at the creation of the film, with plenty of behind-the-scenes footage, from the first day of production to the extensive special effects work. The making of the movie really is fascinating, as virtually nothing that ended up on screen looked anything like what was actually filmed, with the live action, CG and motion capture coming together in ways you might not have expected. It’s well worth spending the time to watch the featurette, even if the couple of minutes is largely a recap of what you’ll already know if you’ve seen the movie. After that it gets much more interesting though.
MacGruber Red Band Trailer – An SNL movie that looks like it might actually be funny
Movies based on Saturday Night Live characters have been very hit and miss, and lately there’ve been far more of the latter than the former. However while many had misgiving’s about whether it would be possible to turn Will Forte’s MacGyver-like bumbling secret agent, MacGruber, from skits into a full blown film, this trailer suggests it could be very funny. Although NSFW and only for those over 18, the Red Band trailer is pretty good and suggests we could have another SNL hit on our hands. And gets ready for lots of jokes about Val Kilmer’s character, who has the suitably rude name of Dieter Von Cunth. Click below to watch the trailer. The film will be in cinemas in the spring.
