Tony: London Serial Killer Trailer – Indie Brit flick gets brutal

28th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Tony: London Serial Killer has already drawn favourable comparisons with Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer and Taxi Driver, which only ups the anticipation for the brutal indie Brit flick. The film hits UK cinemas on Feb 5th and then reaches DVD on February 8th. Gerard Johnson’s feature debut follows Tony, an unemployed London psychopath who’s unable to connect with other people, and who occasionally snaps and violently murders someone. Click below to watch the rather intense trailer.

We’ve also been informed there’s a screening of the film tomorrow (January 29th, 2010) at the Empire Cinema, Leicester Square, at 11.30pm, which director Gerard Johnson and lead actor Peter Ferdinando will attend. You can book your tickets by clicking here.

Alice In Wonderland Featurette – Strange World – New look at Tim Burton’s incredible wonderland

28th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

I’m starting to get slightly worried about Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland. Everything released so far has concentrated so much on the production design that it makes you wonder why they’re so assiduously ignoring everything else about the film, such as the plot and characters (even the featurette on the Mad Hatter mainly talked about his look rather than him as a person). It may just be because they know the lush visuals are what will get people through the cinemas doors. Whatever the reason, the second in Disney’s series of short featurettes about the movie has been released, and while it’s very much a sales pitch, it does show us a little more of the incredibly detailed Wonderland world. Click below to take a look. We’ll be able to see if the story matches the visuals when the film is released on March 5th.

Four Lions Clip – First look at Chris Morris’ idiot jihadist comedy

28th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Chris Morris (of Brass Eye and The Day Today fame) doesn’t seem to like to get out of bed unless he’s doing something that can be described as edgy and controversial. His first feature film as writer/director, Four Lions, is no exception, taking the very serious subject of radicalist Muslim suicide bomber and turning it into a comedy about would-be jihadists, hampered by the fact they’re complete idiots. The film premiered to mixed review at Sundance, with some responding to its satrical wit, which others said it was too silly and trying to be controversial for its own sake, with nothing to back it up (and that no matter what you do, suicide bombing isn’t funny). The film is sure to raise plenty more question when it gets released later this year, but until then, click below to watch the clip.

Repo Chick Trailer – Alex Cox is back in the repo business

28th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

There’s been a bit of fuss about Repo Chick. Directed and written by Alex Cox, who made the 1984 cult classic, Repo Man, Universal got a bit upset when it looked like he was making a sequel, ever though they owned the follow-up rights. After a few nasty letters, and Universal announcing they were changing the title of the upcoming Jude Law flick from Repossession Mambo to Repo Men, things seem to have calmed down. Despite the similar name, Repo Chick is said separate to be Repo Man (while also confusingly described in some places as a semi-sequel) and follows a wealthy girl who works as a repo chick and gets mixed up in a devious kidnapping plot that threatens to wipe out the city of Los Angeles. Click below to watch the trailer for the strange looking film.

Iron Man 2 Music Video – Shoot To Thrill – New footage as AC-DC prepare to soundtrack the entire film

27th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

You may have noticed that the first Iron Man 2 trailer featured the AC/DC song, Shoot To Thrill. Well, it turns out this wasn’t a one-off, as the rock group is going to provide pretty much the entire soundtrack for the upcoming movie, with choice cuts from their back catalogue used throughout the film. It seems Jon Favreau is a big fan, and having used a single AC/DC track in the first film, he’s going to completely rock out to the band’s music in the sequel. The announcement of the Iron Man 2 AC/DC overload was accompanied by a new music video for Shoot To Thrill, which mixes concert footage (shot last month in Buenos Aires) with clips from the movie, including a little bit of never before seen footage. Click below to take a look. Iron Man 2 hits UK cinemas on April 30th.

Dear John Featurette and Trailer – Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried get gushingly romantic

26th January 2010 By Tim Isaac

Ever since The Notebook proved a surprise success, Hollywood has been busy trying to bring Nicholas Spark’s other romatic novels to the big screen. 2010 sees two of them arrive, with Miley Cyrus in The Last Song. and Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum in Dear John.

A new featurette and trailer has popped up online for Dear John, which sees romance blossom between a soldier on leave and a college student. However their love for each other is tested when he returns to war, but they try to stay close by writing each other a series of letters. It all looks nauseatingly romantic, but director Lasse Halstrom is normally pretty good with these things, so hopefully it’ll be sweet rather than sickening (it even look like Channing Tatum does some proper acting, which he seemed to have forgotten how to do in the last couple of years). While the US release is set for early next month, it doesn’t hit the UK until May 7th. Click below to watch the trailer and the behind-the-scenes featurette.
