New Defendor Trailer – Woody Harrelson really wants to be a superhero

16th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

It seems to be the year for normal people trying to be superheroes in the movies, as there’s both Kick-Ass and Defendor hitting cinemas fairly soon, both of which deal with characters who have no special powers donning a mask to fight crime. While earlier previews for Defendor have concentrated on the idea of it being a bit of a comedy character study (which is apparently what is is), Kick-Ass seems to have convinced the people behind the movie to go a bit more action-oriented with this latest trailer. In the film Woody Harrelson plays a man who reveals to his psychiatrist that he believes he is a superhero who’s determined to bring down the man he believes is his nemesis, Captain Industry (who may be a delusion), befriending a teenage prostitute (Kat Dennings) in the process. So it’s sort of like Taxi Driver, but with comedy and costumes. Take a look at the new trailer below.

Green Zone Featurette – Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass talk up the action in their Iraq flick

15th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

As director Paul Greengrass says in this featurette, the idea behind Green Zone was to make a big Hollywood action movie that’s appealing to a general audience, but about the situation in Iraq now. In fact the point of this promo almost seems to be to pre-empt accusations that because it’s about Iraq it’s going to be worthy and boring, by suggesting it’s pretty much a Jason Bourne movie, but in the desert (with plenty of new action-packed footage to back that up). Damon play Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller, who along with his team of Army inspectors are dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. However while their dangerous mission fails to find any WMDs, they do stumble on an elaborate cover-up that could escalate the fighting. Green Zone hits UK cinemas on March 12th, but click below for the featurette.

Clash Of The Titans Featurette – Meet the characters from the upcoming mythological epic

15th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

If you’ve watched any of the promos for Clash of the Titans, which have concentrated on the action and special effects, it might come as a surprise to you that the film is actually going to have actors and characters in it, but this new behind-the-scenes featurette is here to prove that it does. Well sort of. It starts out with the likes of Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson talking about Perseus and the Greek gods, before moving onto the CG likes of Medusa and the Kraken (yes, apparently the Kraken is classed as a character in this film). Clash Of The Titans will hit cinemas in all its 3D glory on April 2nd, but click below to see the featurette.

Centurion Trailer – Neil Marshall’s take on Romano-British history gets violent

15th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

The legendary lost Ninth Roman Legion (although nowadays people don’t think they really were lost) is going to be big this year, with both Kevin MacDonald’s Eagle Of The Ninth and Neil Marshall’s Centurion dealing with the story. While the former will follow the aftermath and a young soldier trying to find out what happened to his father, who was part of the Ninth, Marshall’s film follows the Legion itself as it goes beyond the empire’s frontiers and into hostile Pictish country, in what today would be Scotland, with a few survivors of a devastating attack trying to escape from behind enemy lines. The first trailer for the film has now arrived and it’s pretty intense, promising balls-to-the-walls action. Centurion is out on April 23rd, but you can click below to watch the trailer (Eagle Of The Ninth should arrive in the summer).

Get Him To The Greek Trailer And Poster – Russell Brand returns as Aldous Snow

12th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

The first poster and trailer for the semi-sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek, have arrived. The reason the film is a semi-sequel is that the only crossover character is Russell Brand’s raucous rock star, Aldous Snow. The main character in the film is played by Jonah Hill, who’s a record company intern charged with ensuring that Snow gets to his concert at LA’s Greek Theatre. It shouldn’t come as a shock that doing that proves more than a little difficult. Also starring Sean Combs (or whatever he’s calling himself these days), Rose Byrne and Aziz Ansari, the film is due out this summer. However you can click below to see the trailer, or tap on the poster image to the left for a larger version.
