New Karate Kid Remake Trailer – Jaden Smith gets his martial arts on

24th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

Although I known it’s popular to hate remakes on principle, I have to say The Karate Kid do-over looks like it could be pretty good. Moving the action from America to China, Jaden Smith (Will’s son) plays a boy whose mother moves him to Asia, where he finds himself lonely and picked on by the kids in his new school. However he finds a mentor in Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who teaches him kung fu so that he can face down the bullies. The new trailer is pretty good, although it does make the film look like it’s mainly about taking off and putting on coats. The Karate Kid hits UK cinemas in July.

Valhalla Rising Red Band Sneak Peak – Get an odd preview of Nicholas Winding Refn’s action packed Viking pic

23rd February 2010 By Tim Isaac

Not exactly a trailer, this is more a showreel for Nicholas Winding Refn’s (Bronson) much anticipated movie, Valhalla Rising, about a mute, one-eyed Viking warrior (Mads Mikkelsen), who’s been kept prisoner by a Norse chieftain, but manages to kill his captors and escape, setting off on a boat into unknown waters. The footage in this sneak peak certainly suggests plenty of violence and action (it’s all pretty gory, so don’t watch if ytou’re squeamish), although the choice of a classical music soundtrack is rather peculiar and whimsical, and reminiscent of what Stanley Kubrick sometimes liked to do (particularly in A Clockwork Orange). Click below to take a look (no UK release is set for Valhalla Rising as yet).

Middle Men Red Band Trailer – Luke Wilson helps build online porn

22nd February 2010 By Tim Isaac

Last week Paramount picked up worldwide rights to Middle Men for release later this year, after being impressed by the movie at its world premiere at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Now a new, lengthy red band trailer for the film has arrived. The movie tells the true story of straight laced businessman Jack Harris (Luke Wilson), who builds the first online billing company dealing exclusively with adult entertainment, in the days when porn was first coming to the internet. He finds himself caught between the Russian mob, a 23-year-old porn star and the FBI in his bid to make money. Described as Boogie Night meet Goodfellas, watch the red band trailer by clicking below.

The City Of Your Final Destination Trailer – Anthony Hopkins stars in James Ivory’s latest drama

22nd February 2010 By Tim Isaac

It’s taken a long time for James Ivory’s The City Of Your Final destination to make it to cinemas. It was filmed in 2007, but was hit by numerous delays, not least Anthony Hopkins suing over the fact he said he hadn’t been paid. It then played numerous festivals last year and will finally hit the US on March 30th. Now a trailer for the movie has popped up online. The film is about a doctoral student who wants to write a biography of Latin American writer Jules Gund and must get close to three people who knew him – his brother, widow, and younger mistress – so he can get authorisation for the project. It certainly seems like a slow burner, with Hopkins joined by Charlotte Gainsbourg and Laura Linney. Click below to watch the trailer.

New Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Featurette – Go behind-the-scenes to see the locations used to create the movie

19th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

Disney certainly seems to have upped their game in the online marketing stakes in the past few months, busily building hype for releases months before they arrive in cinemas. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time doesn’t arrive until May 28th, but the latest in a series of behind-the-scenes featurettes has been released (you can see the others here and here), this one looking at the locations the crew went to (largely in Morocco) in order to create the movie. With some new footage from the film, as well as plenty of backstage footage, it’s well worth a look. Click below to watch the featurette.

New Kick-Ass Red Band Trailer – More blood, swearing and superhero madness

19th February 2010 By Tim Isaac

I think it’s safe to say that Kick-Ass isn’t afraid of a bit of bad language or violence. If any more proof were needed then there’s this brand new Red Band trailer, which ups the ante on the blood and ‘f’ words and certainly makes the film look like it’s going to be incredibly entertaining. Just in case you don’t know, the film follows Dave Lizewski, a normal teen who decides to become a put on a costume and become a superhero, despite having no powers whatsoever. As a vigilante he gets in well over his head, while inspiring others to become heroes too. Kick-Ass hits the UK on March 26th, but click below for the new, over 18s only, NSFW trailer.
