You don’t really get to see much in this teaser for the movie Buried, but that’s probably as it should be for a film where a man (Ryan Reynolds) wakes up in a cramped underground coffin and has to spend most of the running time trying to escape. A previous teaser showed us a little more, but to be honest it wasn’t as effective as this new one. The intriguing film is currently schedules for UK release on October 8th, when we’ll be able to see whether it can make its confined setting worth watching for a ful 90 minutes.
Piranha 3D Full Length Trailer – Utterly crazy madness with killer fish
A few days ago we got the UK teaser trailer for Alexandre Aja’s Piranha 3D, and now we’ve got a full length trailer which it has to be said, makes the entire thing look completely nuts – a lot of fun, but nuts. A remake/reimagining of the 1978 horror film, Piranha 3D features a group of people enjoying themselves in Lake Victoria when a tremor unleashes a pack of prehistoric killer fish, who like nothing more than chomping on human flesh. The movie stars Elisabeth Shue, Christopher Lloyd, Jerry O’Connell, Kelly Brook and Ving Rhames, and just to make sure you don’t forget the grandaddy of murderous fish tales – Jaws – Richard Dreyfuss pops up too. Jonah Hex Trailer – First look at the DC Comics adaptation is finally here
It’s taken a long time for us to get a Jonah Hex trailer. By now most big summer movies have released teasers and various other promos, but due to production difficulties – which saw huge chunks of the film needing to be reshot – this is our first proper look at the DC Comics movie starring Josh Brolin and Megan Fox. Brolin pays the title character, a scarred bounty hunter who must stop hell on earth being unleashed. The film hits the US on June 18th, and should reach the UK shortly after, although there’s no 100% official date set as yet. Click below to watch the trailer.
Black Death Trailer – Sean Bean deals with medieval pestilence
Christopher Smith, director of Creep, Severance and Triangle, returns to UK cinemas next month (May 28th) with Black Death, and now we’ve been sent the official UK trailer for the film. The brutal movie is set in plague-ridden medieval England, where Osmund (Eddie Redmayne), a young monk, is charged with leading the fearsome knight Ulrich (Sean Bean), and his group of mercenaries to a remote village where the inhabitants are unaffected by the deadly pestilence. Their quest is to hunt down a necromancer – someone able to bring the dead back to life. The journey is long and brutal; encountering deadly bandits, vicious witch-burnings and their own impeding sense of doom. Though it’s upon entering the village that their true horror begins… Click below for the trailer.
Space Chimps 2 Trailer – Did anyone actually watch the first one?
Space Chimps must have sold a lot of DVDs, because it flopped at the cinemas, suggesting a sequel would be pretty pointless. However they’ve made one anyway, which will hit UK cinemas at the end of next month (May 28th, to be precise). This time around there’s a zany new chimp called Comet to appeal to the kids (as in all family films, he’s out to prove himself, but lacks experience), while the astronaut apes must try and stop alien ruler Zartog taking over mission control. New Splice Trailer – The human hybrid sci-fi flick is looking cooler and cooler
After premiering at Sundance, Warner was so impressed with Splice they bought up the rights, gave the filmmaker (Cube’s Vincenzo Natali) a bit more cash to improve some of the effects and are planning a major release for the movie. If the trailers and clips are anything to go by, you can see why they got so excited. Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley star as scientists working hybrid animals, however when they secretly add human DNA into the mix they create something they may be the next step up the evolutionary ladder, or something that could destroy the whole of humanity.
