It’s been a big week for Chris Nolan’s Inception. While the director has previously kept everything ridiculously secret, in the last few days we’ve had the official plot synopsis, a fantastic new poster and now the latest trailer, which was attached to prints of Iron Man 2 in the US. The promo has shown up online, and unlike the cool but mysterious previous trailers, this one actually reveals more about the movie, with Leo DICaprio as an industrial espionage specialist who specialises in entering people’s dreams and extracting secrets. It certainly look action packed with loads of nifty special effects. The movie hits cinemas on July 16th, but click below for the new trailer.
The A-Team – Character TV Spots – Meet B.A., Hannibal, Faceman and Murdock
Although it doesn’t get to the UK until July 28th, the June 11th US release date for The A-Team is fast approaching and so the marketing is revving up. The hype push includes four new character TV spots, each focussing on a different member of the iconic team. They’re quite fun and underline how this movie looks like it’s going to be completely and utterly insane, with more OTT action than you’d think was feasible. Click below to take a look.
The Super 8 Trailer Has Leaked – And we’ve now got the hi-res version
Ever since it was revealed last week that a teaser trailer for a secret JJ Abrams movie, called Super 8, was going to be attached to prints of Iron Man 2 in the US, the online movie world has been in meltdown over what exactly the film is. Is it a sequel/prequel to Cloverfield? The zombie movie Abrams is producing? It is the rumoured tie-up between him and Spielberg? Well, with Iron Man 2 opening last night in America it didn’t take long for parts of the picture to emerge, or for the first bootlegs to show up online (UPDATE: we’ve now replaced the bootleg version with the proper hi-res teaser trailer).
Super 8 does indeed involve both Abrams and Spielberg (and has nothing to do with Cloverfield or zombies), with the latter as a producer and the former producing, creating the story and possible directing (JJ hasn’t decided yet, although he did direct the teaser). So what’s it all about? Well, this is Abrams, so you wouldn’t expect the trailer to actually tell us, would you? However along with some whizz bang special effects, the teaser does reveal that something is coming in summer 2011 and it’s powerful and seemingly angry.
The film supposedly originated in conversations between Spielberg and Abrams about what they liked in movies, their early influences, and what made Spielbergs 70s and 80s flicks so special. The idea is to go for the tone of Close Encounters and ET, but updated. We also known that the name supposedly refers to kids running around making Super 8 movies, who unwittingly capture something unexpected with their cameras. What that unexpected thing is hasn’t been revealed.
Despite people capturing things on Super 8 cameras, we’ve been promised it won’t use the Cloverfield shaky cam style and will be relatively modestly budgeted (for something Abrams and Spielberg are involved in) in the $45-50 million range. There’s also a website that’s gone live at super8-movie.com, although there’s pretty much nothing on there yet. However if you want to see the teaser, click below.
And even with the teaser, the film is still pretty much a complete mystery.
Prince Of Persia Film Clip – Dastan and Tamina try to avoid the sandtrap
With Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time receiving it’s world premiere in London this Sunday, the first official film clip has arrived, which certainly suggests the special effects guys had their work cut out when it came to creating CG sand. Dastan (Jake Gyllenhall) and Tamina (Gemma Arterton) are on a mission and must avoid the sandtrap, which inevitably they fail to do, lauching us into a massive effects filled action sequence. Click below to take a look.
And just a bit of forewarning, we’ll be live streaming the Prince Of Persia premiere on Sunday. So if you want to see the stars coming and going, as well as what they have say, come to Movie Muser from 5.30pm (BST) on Sunday 9th May.
I Spit On Your Grave Trailer – Get your first look at the horror remake
Although it was inevitable someone would remake it at some point, I Spit On Your Grave is one of those films it’s difficult not to feel should be left alone. Despite it’s reputation, the original is actually less video nasty than feminist rant (it was originally called Day Of The Woman), with the movie highlighting how a raped woman is so traumatised she decides to fight back, in ever more violent ways. Although Steven R. Monroe’s remake may retain that flavour, the trailer suggests something more generic, becoming a more typical horror/revenge story. The movie is due out this autumn, but click below for the trailer.
True Blood – Season 2 Trailer – Get your fix before it hits DVD and Blu-ray
True Blood – Season 2 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on May 17th, and in preparation we’ve been sent the official trailer for the release, which you can see below. The 12 episode set sees the return of the mind-reading Sookie and her vampire boyfriend Bill, in a world where bloodsuckers have come out of hiding and are trying to find acceptance in society. The stakes are certainly raised in Season 2, with plenty of blood, sex, social commetary and a hell of a lot of drama.
